Il Castello (Italian term of Castel) of Bardine di San Terenzo is located in the Valle del Bardine (Bardine's Valley), in the city of Fivizzano, between the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines and the Apuan Alps, only 30 minutes far from the Tyrrhenian Sea. The Castello is an ancient building that dates back to the XII century. It has been long used as the residence of the Nobili family, that built, next to the building, an oratory and a chapel in honour of Saint Bernard, the patron saint of the village, whose anniversary is celebrated on August 20.
Thanks to an intelligent and sensible restructuring, the old style is preserved (including the drying-room, the hay-loft and the cowshed) and permits the visitor to taste the middle ages architecture. The Castello brings back to the atmosphere of those ancient times.
The Castello is today a guesthouse with the possibility to rent independent flats on a weekly basis, besides a sunlit farm yard. The vistor will enjoy the beautiful sight of the hills and mountasins of Lunigiana. Thanks to its lucky position, stuck between the mountains and the sea, the Lunigiana is adviced to everyone that wants to spend some time in a peaceful place plunged into nature, with possibility to visit ancient villages, medieval castels, and Tuscany's historical cities. It is also easy to visit either the sea or the surrounding mountains.
